I ordered a D2X on a Sunday night for $4,295 using my PayPal account. After ordering I felt leery of the company after reading more on them. Tried to cancel order Monday morning when they opened - the rep said no problem the order was cancelled. "It is noted on their website if you cancel before the transaction is run (usually within 24 hrs) you would not be charged the cancellation fee of 7%." Later that day the charge went through.
I immediately called and they said the charge was already in queue and they had no control over it. They said I could cancel the order and pay $300 but suggested I proceed with it as it's a great deal. Not wanting to loose $300 I asked if it includes a US warranty after which they said in fact it was covered for 1 year. I proceeded with the order.
After receiving the camera it noted the "open box" and the fact no warranty card or registration card was included. The camera box had Japanese print on it so I became suspect to warranty.
I called Nikon and ran the serial number. They confirmed the item was manufactured for sale in Japan and did NOT include a US warranty. They further said the model number on the outside of the box "D2X (J)" further confirmed this. Nikon stated not only is this particular camera not warranted but NO authorized Nikon repair firm would be allowed to work on it even if paid.
I'm in the process of applying for a charge back on my MasterCard and contacting Big On Digital for a resolution. I won't settle for anything less than a FULL refund.
