I pre-ordered (it was not released by manufacturer yet) a high-end surround sound receiver from
LetsGoDigital (lgdsuperstore.com) on 9/22/01 giving them my credit card.
I have a printed copy of the order confirmation with the prices. The price was very good so I called their customer support several times to verify that it was, in fact, a legitimate order and was assured that it was, and that it would be shipped as soon as the product was released from the manufacturer.
In October I received an email that they had cancelled my order.
I referred to their website and saw that the same receiver was now listed for approximately $1900 more than I ordered it for. I called immediately and was told that they would not be carrying that receiver - when I told them it was still on their website, they said that it hadn't been removed yet.
I called back several days later and asked for a supervisor. The woman I was referred to said that they would not be getting that receiver in for 6 months. I told her I was willing to wait. She said to call back when they had it in stock. I called the manufacturer and found out that it would be released 11/15.
I called LGD and talked to a salesperson who verified that it was available for shipping immediately.
I called back the customer service supervisor and she said there is nothing she could do my order had been cancelled. I said something about the Better Business Bureau and contacting my lawyer (which I do not have) and she said "knock yourself out."
