I am trying to cancel Direct TV service; I had gotten a new DVR (7/12) that I knew I had to agree on a 2-year contract. They are claiming I agreed to a $480 early termination charge that has $380 still owed on it.in the meantime my wife lost her job and we are cutting back. If you knew me you would know I would never agree to a $480termination fee, I have asked for proof that I agreed to $480 and all they sent me was a pamphlet with their rules ect nothing I signed or verbally agreed too. Another complaint I have is that I purchased a new DVR for Direct TV from Best Buy and they charged me a leasing
fee for a few years for equipment that I paid directly for. When I complained to them about this they said that best buy was a representative for direct TV and that they sold me the dvr at a lease price not an owners price kind of like a car lease deal. Now they are trying to strong arm me and they claim when I cancel if I dont pay the $380 termination fee within 20 days they are going to bill my credit card on file for any remaining monies owed even if I ask them not to bill my credit card. I have never liked how they have treated me they put holes in my house for wiring - in my roof. Like a lot of others I was only
with them for the NFL ticket since they are the only TV service that can get a contract to offer the NFL ticket, thats MONOPOLY in action. They also refuse to get the 7-wires and satellite disk off of my roof that they put up there. My ceiling has a water spot right under the satellite disk that I know came from the disk and I am waiting to see if they will address the roof leak.
