Top-Star Mailshare advertises their business in some London magazines (GAT, Miss London, Nine to Five etc). Their business is to stuff envelopes and said that they pay 1.10 per envelope stuffed after you pay their 25 membership fee. They stated that this fee would be fully refundable upon your first job or if you send back your membership card.
After 2 months of receiving no work from them, I sent back my membership card by registered post (so they can't say that they never received it back). It has been over 6 weeks and I have called them to ask where my 25 is and they said it takes about 4 weeks from the time they receive it. They said it should be in the mail so to wait a couple more days. This was conveyed to me over severall phonecalls, so by this stage I am sure I will not get back my money.
I am usually pretty sceptical about these sorts of businesses and have never paid attention to them before, however I thought that by advertising in a magazine that is circulated widely, the company would be somewhat credible as I would have expected the magazine not to accept advertisements from "ripoff" companies.
I guess this is not the case!
