How do I start? I am a victim of trust. A rep. Came in from a company, stating that I could lease the card swipe machine for $39.00 a month and with the charge of 1/69% per card. The best part was, was that there wasn't any length of contract.
That's right, I could cancel anytime I wanted to. Didn't matter if I only had it a month, or less, or more, I could cancel and get out of having the machine anytime I wanted. Just call them (at this time, I will leave them nameless) and let them know. They would come and get the machine, and all would be done.
Well, I signed the little piece of paper, and signed a pink paper (which turned out to be another place that deducted money from my account, but it did the paper work, the statements.) All happened so fast, like gotta know now, so I called my husband and told him about the deal of no contract length, had the rep. Sign a paper stating that also. The rep. Also said it over the phone to my husband.
When I started to write the check, that was when I noticed that I was also charged over a hundred dollars, which I didn't know that was going to happen, so I made the statement about that.
Well, a few days later, the rep. Came in and installed the machine, and was gone. My first statement came, and I hadn't even had the thing for a week, and was already having money taken out of my account. Called my rep. And asked what that was for, and was told that they had prorated it?
Didn't like to looks of that, so in less than a month, not many customers were coming in, so I called my rep. Several times, tried to leave messages, and so on, finally got the secretary, and told her I was ready to cancel out, called a day later, mentioned again was wanting to cancel.
Finally got the boss, he said I had to fax it in, so I did. I even met with one of their employees, had them sign a paper, showing I had given her the machine. I was trying to save them a trip, so I delivered it to them. Out of state, no less. Thought that was it.
Then I saw some money deducted out of my account, I stopped payment on it, from someone called Northern Leasing, didn't even know who they were. So the stop payment cost me twenty dollars. Then the phone calls started from Northern Leasing, every day, at home and at work, letters at both places, I cringe at every phone ring, I don't even want to see the mail.
Yep, they say that I am responsible, I signed a contract, they say, I have asked for a copy of it, am still waiting for it. They have made threats, I have been called just short of a liar, he danced all around that word. I didn't even know that they existed. Sure do know it now.
They don't care about the fact I was told no contract length. They don't care that I don't even have the stupid machine. They say that I owe right now ver $200.00, and I don't even see how that can add up right.
There is a lot more that has happened during this progress, but not enough room to type here. I just never dreamed that anything like this could happen. But it has. They are going to turn me over to their legal dept. I was told. They are going to ruin my credit I was told.
So isn't there anyone out there who can help all of us? I would give more information as to this whole ordeal. I wrote down all the times they called, the letters, the names of them, what they said, the threats. And the dealing with the company that I thought I was dealing with. I just don't want to write down their name just yet.
Hoping that they would step up to bat, but it doesn't look like it. I didn't even know that there was so many places, and people involved in my signing that stupid piece of paper. Please help all of us, someone. Thank you.
