This scam started in December. I noticed a charge of $19.34 on my monthly Bell South bill. The voicemail service listed on my bill was Venus Voicemail which billing is accomplished through Integretel Inc.
I called Integretel Inc. Only to be switched to Venus Voicemail. The recording indicated that Integretel was the billing company; however, Venus Voicemail wanted to take all customer calls.
I asked them why I was being charged for a voicemail I did not authorize. They told me that "Thomas Smith" authorized it. I told them that they were lying because there was no Thomas Smith at my phone number.
They told me that they had a recorded confirmation. I asked them to let me hear the taped conversation. I was told a representative would call me in 2 to 3 days so I could hear it. I never heard from them.
Each month since this has happened (Dec 02) I have been billed. Each month I have called Integretel (aka Venus Voicemail). Each month I am told that it was cancelled in March and that it takes 3 to 4 billing cycles to fall off of my bill. I am still waiting (Jun 03)
My June bill did show a credit of $72.00 and then a recharge of $19.34 for this past month. I haven't paid Integretel anything. Each month that I have called them, I told them I was not paying their charges. I called Bell South also to let them know I was disputing the charges made by Integretel and I would continue to pay only what I owed Bell South. Therefore, they have totally screwed up my phone bill by crediting me $72.00. (Because again, I haven't paid them anything).
I think what they are trying to do now is scam me in another way. Since I have refused to pay them any money, they credited me the amount of my actual Bell South phone bill. Then I'm sure they'll say they overcredited me and expect payment. Tricky.
I'm getting ready to contact the Better Business Bureau and also the FBI. Because this is fraud.
