I have been attending Kaplan University for approximately a year. I was informed that I would receive financial aid for the July term beginning 7/1/09-9/8/09 for x amount of dollars.
If I was unable to receive leftover aid that I was promised by a financial aid adviser for the term, I would have never attended that term. I was told to give it two weeks until I received my aid. I waited the two weeks and called back and was informed that I was not going to receive any aid. I called again a short period of time later and was told that I was to receive aid for the original x amount of dollars.
I was told to give it another two weeks. This process repeated for over a month and a half. I finally spoke to a manager who said that my account was all messed up by the financial aid department. This manager then put me in contact with another manager. I spoke with this manager and she told me the exact opposite of what the other manager told me. Two days later she had confirmed what the other manager had told me.
The term has ended and I have still not received a stipend. I'm facing eviction, loss of electricity, phone, and even lost my internet for over two weeks during the term because of this. I have notified the financial aid department of this on the day the term ended on 9/8/09. I was informed that my financial aid manager would call me on Wednesday 9/9/09. I have never received a phone call. I called back 9/10/09 and was supposed to have the manager return my call. I never received a phone call. I called back today on 9/11/09 and left another voice mail. I still haven't received a phone call.
I have informed the financial aid advisers of this. I had emailed my personal financial aid officer and never received a response. I have left a voice mail for my personal financial aid officer and never received a response. I have left a couple of voice-mails for the manager of my personal financial aid officer and have not received a response.
I had requested the number for the director of financial aid and I was given a phone number that rings into the admissions office every time I call it. I can't afford this negligence anymore. Going back to school has turned out to be the worse decision I have ever made.
