NYBS Creative Arts (New York Beauty Space Creative Arts)
Theft of Services, Deceptive Business Practices, Abusive to Employees and Interns

NYBS Creative Arts presents itself as a professional Makeup School, run by former fashion designer Akemi Sone, but NYBS Creative Arts is currently being investigated by the State for not being licenced by the appropriate bureau. They mistreat their employees and mis-represent themselves to potential "students". By working in their admissions office and conducting sales for these people, my reputation for representing reputable companies has been damaged. Please Steer Clear of this Company!

Anyone considering employment with the company should be warned. They outright refused to put our verbal contracts into writing and then never paid me my comissions or my final paycheck (2 weeks pay). It was then that I found out that they were not registered or licenced. They have ripped off several other employees and have been using their "interns" as outright maids and even fired one because she "didn't clean well enough" I was yelled at by Ms. Sone and Mr. Miller for bringing up the fact that the government has rules regarding the use of interns in this way.

NYBS Creative Arts brought false charges against me when I tried to pursue them legally for my paycheck and comissions. I was falsely arrested because of their lies and this will now make it more difficult for me to collect on monies owed. I think they purposely took something they gave me permission to do and turned it against me so that I would not be able to collect on my back pay and comissions. They knew I did not have the money to fight this charge and had to take an ACD w / two days community service from the DA to avoid further court charges.

They issue "certificates" to students which have no real value and although they told me that graduates would be able to work with these "certificates", I have discovered that this is false. Their website cleverly avoids calling the business a "school" or placing any of the hours for classes or pricing on the site. I believe that this is meant to avoid detection by the government agencies that would want them to be licenced.

Also, Ms. Sone openly admitted to hiring and paying Japanese people in cash, not reporting this pay to the IRS. The company seeemed to be new to the process of even setting up a payroll, though they have been in business since 1994. I am certain that they have paid most of their employees in cash to avoid paying the required taxes.

Please beware of nybs creative arts!
