University Of Phoenix
Ripped off, too

I too was taken in by these sales people. I was hesitant at first because $1600 for 1 class seemed extreme, but they explained it was because they were in 5 week increments, etc. I took out that $12000 loan and started classes. Then my daughter started the University of Texas (a real school), and it only cost her $4000 for 5 classes... And I started thinking this crap. Why are we charged so much and not taught a thing? Teamwork sucks, I have yet to have a team where everyone did the same amount of work with the same quality... Yet we all got the same grade. A lot of the classes are irrelevant to my degree plan, and I can't figure out why they are part of course schedule.

On top of all of that... To the "employee" who says you must pay for a class anywhere even if dropped, and that is true, but at REAL schools if you drop or fail, you can still continue taking classes, and go back and make that class up or take an equivalent. At UoP you fail or drop, and you must pay for that class before they will let you continue with your program, and you don't get to choose your classes... You are just told what to take, and that is crap.

I imaging there are a lot of single moms out there, like myself, who were suckered in by these sales people/counselors, who are now deeply in debt and trying to decide whether to continue the program, or find some other outlet to get their degree.

Count me in on a lawsuit. I don't think paying $1600 to learn how to take their classes was a valid class, I don't think diversity is a valid class, and I don't think human nutrition is a valid college course. Yet, I paid $1600 for each of those classes, and that is bogus!!
