Ripoff, Lack of Instruction and excessive costs ripoff business from hell Sacramento & And The Other 101 Locations California, and all of the other states that UOPHX has locations

I started attending the University of Phoenix Sacramento campus in 1997. I was told that I could get my degree on as little as three years and financial aid at that location. I after I had already started I was told that I could not get financial aid, but they did have a credit card program.

Due to an unexpected job change I had to move to Oregon in the beginning of 1998. I was told that I could continue my UOP education at the community college in the city I moved to as UOP was set up there, but that was not true. It was not true because UOP in Sacramento had started me on UPPER LEVEL classes from the start! The community college that was sponsoring UOP was not equipped for third year courses. I had to put my education on hold, as they did not have distance education set up in my area at that time.

Now to Tampa, Florida 2002. I found that UOP had a campus in Tampa and I could continue my education. Now I could get financial aid and in fact the University reimbursed me for the classes I had taken in 1997, putting all my class work on my student loan. Why they could or would do this, I do not know. But at the UOP campus in Tampa, I was told that I had been started in the wrong classes and would have to start with a different schedule. The first thing Tampa did was have me take a GEN class again. Taking this class negated the credit I received for the first GEN class I had taken in 1997. I had to complain to my councilor who after many days of discussion could not reinstate my class credit but could give me back the money that I paid for the first GEN class. Of course the second GEN class was more expensive than the first. I attended classes for over a year.

Due to my wife getting an appointment to a position with the State of Florida we had to move to Tallahassee. I transferred from the Ground Class in Tampa to On-Line in Tallahassee. The cost went from the already excessive amount of over $800.00 per class to a ridiculous $1,266.00 per class. Over $400.00 per credit hour. I took one on line class and was told that because the on-line classes were more expensive, my funding allotment for this year was used up and I would have to pay the $1266.00 for my next class, plus $114.00 for the book.in the first on-line class I did most of my work for the entire class in the first week, had to hold the Team together and do all the editing and drafts including the final paper myself as the Team attitude was that of junior high students. I have had three academic councilors and four financial councilors since starting in Tampa. This was all too much BS for me.

I checked into Florida State. After 8 month of classes in Sacramento and 13 months of classes in Florida, at a cost of over $10,000, I am still 25 credits short of being able to transfer to Florida State. Florida State had me check into Tallahassee Community College. TCC will except all the credits I have from UOP, including both of the GEN classes that UOP would only give me credit for one of. Tuition at TCC is $50.00 per credit hour or $150.00 per class. It does not matted if you are in day classes, night classes or ON-LINE, the cost is the same. They also have accelerated classes at the same cost as all of the others. I will take 8 classes over the next 6 months, (the same amount of time it would take at UOP) and it will cost me LESS than the one on-line class at UOP. I will then transfer to Florida State where I can finish not only a BSBM, but a BS in Civil Engineering and a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

I will be able to finish all three degrees for less than 1/4 of the cost of the BSBM I was working on at UOP and IT WILL NOT TAKE ANY MORE TIME, actually less (I will finish by the summer of 2005), and I can go at night and on the web just like UOP. Florida State told me that, if I had been able to start with them in the beginning, the $10,000 I have already spent would have almost completely paid for all of my undergraduate work.

The rip-off is UOP lies and misleads or doesn't know about every part of their program and their cost is more than any of the top ten schools. If you did all of your education on line with UOP, it would cost over $50,000 for a BA degree and over $30,000 if you went to ground classes. If I could file legal action against UOP I would.
