Center ripoff fires most honest loyal hardworking employee

I considered myself to be very loyal to U-Haul. Whenever someone asked me how I could possibly work for one of the most hated companies in America I would tell them because it's a great company.

I did everything there. Storage, hithces, sales, truck rentals, truck maintenance, everything.

I even covered my bosses ass when he just didn't feel like coming to work that day. Just so that he wouldn't lose his job. I worked whenever I was asked to.

While I worked there two employees were caught stealing gas from u-haul trucks that were for sale. Those things hardly start at all. Imagine with next to no gas. They weren't fired for it.

More than one of those employees had DUI's, one of which wasn't even 21. I worked on the Fourth of July in 2002 and cracked my head wide open fixing an auto trailer for a customer, I even finished working on the trailer before worrying about myself, hell I cleaned the blood off the thing for him.

It's true that alot of u-haul employees dont care, but there are some of us who did. We're just hard to find because we're the first to get fired for b.S. Reasons. I even finished out the day with a gash across my forehead.

Eventually I started to notice something wrong with the cash in the drawers and deposits. I tried to tell my manager that money was being stolen and who did it but he ignored it.

Not to long after I was fired I found out that the two thieves had been caught and had stolen around 15 grand. And to think that could have been stopped sooner.

Why was I fired? The only one there who was married. The only one there with a kid, not to mention one on the way. The only one there who hardly missed a day and never came into work drunk or stoned.

Because at the time a new U-Haul policy was in effect. A policy that stated anyone who failed 3 monitor calls would be fired.
A monitor call consists of a u-haul employee at the corporate center who has no clue what its like to be the only one working behind the counter able to answer the phone and deal with customers because the manager didn't want to work that day, trying to screw you anyway they can.

If you don't get a credit number from the customer you didnt do your job. I was speaking to a lady who wanted a hitch on her vehicle. After going over all the options and prices for her vehicle, I asked her if she would like to set up an appointment to have the hitch installed. After which I would have asked for a credit card # to reserve the time.

She said " Well I think I should go over the information you gave me with my husband first and I'll call you back."
I told her that wouldnt be a problem and then I heard those words every u-haul employee hates. My name is... And you just failed a monitor call.

Guess what that was my third. The part that really tics me off is that u-haul offers no training course on how to deal with customers. Just make the sale, or reservation even if you know there's no way they'll get their truck on the day they want. Even if you know they'll end waiting for days. Just Make The Reservation.

When she told me I had failed a monitor call I snapped. I asked her how the hell I was supposed to go home and tell my pregnant wife due in a month that i lost my job. I asked how it feels to screw a dedicated employee about to be the father of a second son out of his job. I hope she reads this, I hope that everyone in u-haul company 739 reads this especially the MCP of 739.

I never did talk to Joe Schoen about MCP's who drive company vehicles (Yukons) with one hell of a blood alchohol level.
I have been out of work since and cant find work anywhere. All because I was stressed from being stuck there with only help from some one who was of no help.
