My husband and I went to this U haul dealer to rent a towing trailer to tow my truck back home after breaking down enroute to work. I live 70 miles from where I work. I live in Shelbyville and work in Nashville.
We rented the trailer shortly after noon and had to drive back some ten miles, winch the truck onto the trailer, and then haul it 70 miles back to my house and the guy tells my husband he has to have the trailer back before 5 PM the same day. Doesn't U-haul spend millions of dollars advertising one way rentals?
There is a U-haul dealer in Shelbyville but my husband could not rent one there enroute to me, because he does not carry credit or debit cards. And they refused to let us turn the trailer back in there. We had to get the truck home, get it unloaded, and fight the afternoon Nashville traffic trying to get it back before 5 pm.
As if that is not bad enough... The trailers they rent all have square plugs for the lights. Most of the newer model trucks have the round plugs as do most trucks that spend any amount of time hauling and U haul KNOWS this. BUT they don't rent you the adapter... You have to BUY the adapter to the tune of an additional 15 bucks. They don't refund your money, you are just stuck with a plug adapter you can't use.
When I complained to U-haul and told them it would be a cold day in hell before I EVER rented another U-haul... They offered me 15 dollars worth of COUPONS. I could only laugh and say No Thanks.
