Complaint / Review
Strayer University
Fraud, steal, mislead, breach contract, negligence, incompetent, scam, scheme, lie, lies

After registering for classes in I added this particular class into the second week of the quarter. I ordered my book late in the semester, due to circumstances beyond my control. I had access to another book that was required by the institution. While in the class, I did not receive my assignments from this institution. I had to pay an extra fee to obtain class assignments and quizzes. Once I bought the assignments and quizzes, I was not allowed into my assignments or quizzes. Although I was in the class in the second week of the quarter, I did not receive access to my assignments, quizzes, and instructional material until the fourth week of class.

I corresponded with the professor asking her to give me access to the assignments and quizzes for the prior weeks. The midterm was near and the midterm review was in progress. The professor denied me access to the material that I paid for and refused me access to the materials I needed to pass. Therefore, I will receive a failing grade, and be required to retake this class due to the fact that the professor refused me the right to materials to learn and complete the work that I paid for.

The professor never taught the material and never assisted in my educational needs in this class. I paid my tuition in return for an education, and throughout corresponding emails with this professor, they refused to teach me, or provide any access for me to be able to pass the course. I am entitled to all the materials regarding this class since I paid for it. I contacted the dean, the dean agreed with the professor and their decision is final. The final decision is: they will not allow me to make up any work, although other students were able to do so. Also, they will not give me access to the work I paid for, even if I stayed in the class, I would still receive a failing grade of F. Therefore, I stopped attending the class.

The problem is they charged me twice for the same course. I paid my tuition for an education, but I had to pay an additional cost in order to have access to learn and complete assignments in this class. It's like hiring a contractor to remodel your kitchen, and then they hire a subcontractor to do the work, but the subcontractor also charges you for doing the work. You're getting charged twice.

I was hoping to resolve this matter and therefore I registered for class prior to the start date. The dean sent me an email telling me not to drop the class, therefore I didn't. When the previous issue wasn't resolved I emailed Strayer asking them to drop the class the first day. They changed me 10% of the tuition for the class not being dropped prior to class starting. Also they charged me a no show fee the class was suppose to have been dropped. I went into the class to see that the class was not dropped so now I have another fee. The school submitted these bogus charges to the credit bureau and now I have this on my credit report. Also I've contacted the school to ask what the charges are for, and they could not tell me. I have several different amounts of fees that I supposedly owe, and they can't verify the charges. My letters and emails were ignored, I called and no one got back to me. I am in limbo. I can't get me transcripts and I can't register. This school is screwing me.

Also, I was suppose to graduate last December of because of the unethical practices of this university I was not able to start training for a job with Edward Jones. I have emails corresponding with a recruiter for them telling me I can start after I finish, with an understanding I was going to graduate in Dec. 08, but there was a time limit for how long they would hold my application, which is six months. I have seen and read complaints of other students that have been charged for classes they did not register for or was not even a student there.

I find these practices to be unethical and just a way to take my money. When I signed my promissory note, we had an agreement. The agreement is that I would pay for the services to an education by an educator with this particular institution, and they have failed on their part. I've fulfilled my part of the agreement, but they've breached theirs.

This has caused such a tremendous amount of time, stress, and money. I have email correspondences documenting what has transpired and proof of the professors and several deans refusals to assist in mitigating the situation concerning my education. Can you help me in this matter?
