I have been a resident at Stephenson House apartments for two years now. The first year was ok, maintenance was bad, but I pretty much was satisfied. I switched to a one bedroom last August. Since then, I have had nothing but problems with other tenants, maintenance, and concerns of mine being met. I held payment in August and September, they attempted to take me to court and charge me twice for one claim (200.00).
I tried with the leasing mananger, the regional manager and even the corporation of Home Properities themselves, and they basically said that it was not there problem what I was going through.in August the tenants fom upstairs overflowed there bathtub 3 times in one afternoon, causing the ceiling to leak and eventually cave in. Before this incidient I as well as other tenants in that building have reported these people not only to the police but to managment. They never responded.
It took them a week to fix my bathroom ceiling and offered no reimbursemnt for me. I had no use of my bathroom that whole time and it was very annoying. Then they had the nerve to ask me if the tenants upstairs could stay if she got rid of her other lodgers. I couldn't belive it. They did nothing to try and rectify my displeasure. But when I held payment, well they had no trouble taking me to court. So I had to put up with this for 3 months.
Not only did I have to tolerate noise 24/7, but the rejects even threatned me by constantly knocking on my door, threatning myself and my fiance physciall and I think the police were called over a dozen times. To top it all off the tenants across the hall got abusive shortly after they moved in.in November and December, same scenerio, complainst filed etc.
Well in December my storage locker was broken into by one of those tenants. I reported it to the police.in November I verbally told one of the maintenance guys that the storage room door keys were not working, he opened it and said just don't lock it behind you until we can get it fixed. Well it never got fixed and my stuff was stolen, but of course Home Properties was not responsible.
In January and February I had simple maintenance issues, that were not rectified until I put my rent into escrow again. This place has the worst customer service, maintenance and care of its residents that I have ever seen. All they care about is there rent payment. They will let anyone stay there.
What scares me is that what if someone is a terriost, a drug dealer, a criminal. As long as they get there rent who cares about others getting hurt, threatned, abused, or not enjoying living in there own home. It is totally unfair to others in the complex that do everything they are supposed to. But of course those things are not the responsiblity of Home Properties.
