I've been with Unique Worldwide Services, Inc. For 2 and half months, and I was a fool to answer their ad. The ad was very convincing stating "Earn $15/hr, no experience neceassary, will train, and must have good people skills". When I went in for the interview, they gave a short presentation on the products they were selling, and how the main goal of the company is to educate people about fire safety, that is what caught my interest.
I quickly learned that UWSI main goal was to scam their employees as well as their customers out of their money. After the interview, I was told to pay a $75 deposit as well as bring a $95 check for kit fee to my Saturday Orientation. During the orientation, they make it sound real good that you will make this abundance of money, you can be out of training within 2 and half week, have your own office, and you don't have to pay for anything. They told us all we have to do is market $2000 (which really means sell) in retail sails and you'll be in your office. Boy that was a Fat Lie.
All they wanted you to do was sell; To me their motto was to sell by any means necessary. Those that had full times jobs, they tried to convince them to quit, because they said UWSI was their job and financial security. Some quit, and was very disappointed when UWSI did not produce what they had promise, and now they were out of a job.
The real scam is their Pin Sale Challenges. At the end of each week, you had until 6pm or midnight on Fridays to complete the sale challenges. The challenges were to sell a Package #1 or equivalent which is over $1000 in sale. If you did, then you were able to go to an accelerated training class in which you'll finish your training in 10 days.
However, while at that training, they set you up on a 10 day schedule. Each day you will have to make a $750 plus in sales, and if you don't you're off schedule and you'll have to start all over. So it's like all you're doing is selling, but you're not getting your office.
I was scammed out of a great deal of money in which I've brought products well over $1200, (to help me get through my training) and I have not received any of my products, and it has been about 15 weeks. I've called headquarters in Ala., and no one has returned my calls. I am looking into suing the company.
I bet once my lawyer calls them, then I will get some service, but it will be too late then. Also, the office courteousy in Charlotte was horrible. The office mangaer Kevin Fuqoua always lied to us, all he cared about was getting rich off our money. When we didn't make sales, then he'll get mad at us, and said we were lazy, don't come back to the office until we made a sale, he will talk about his employees behind their backs, and yes Nathan (the other office manager) he talked about you too. When some of the employees went on business trip they had to sleep 5 to 8 ppl in hotel rooms.
The only way you got to go on the business trips if you made a sale between $750-$1000 plus in sales. It all depended on what kind of trip it was. All I know, that if you are in the company get out while you can before you become scammed just like the rest of us. I'm upset that I lost my money, and I'm glad I didn't make it to the manager stage, becaue if they told me I had to pay an additional $6000 to get my office, I would be too through.
Those of you all who are going through the lawsuit, can you give me some advice. I will be talking to my lawyer in the morning.
Sorry I wrote a long letter, but everyone needs to know about this company. This is not even the whole story; there is more. I have seen and heard a lot (not hear say). They target young people, people who lost their jobs and have nowhere to go, as well as people in theier 50's and 60's b/c they say a diversify company will rack in lots of money.
PS: Now they have changed their name to Safety Technology.
