Javelin Technical Training Center
Fraud, No Training, Lied, Deceived, Offered studies not equipped to perform

My name is Edward. I am a student currently enrolled in the Javelin Technical Training Center's, "Information Technology Expert" program. I thought I had performed a pretty thorough investigation of the school prior to enrollment, but I was wrong.

Prior to obtaining acceptance into the program, I was a Director of IT for a software development company. My years of experience gave me the hands on training I needed, but not the book knowledge for much of my work. There were certain facets of my department I was not educated on, so it was hard for me to truly lead my team in these areas. Deciding that I needed to be a better leader, I pursued additional training.

I came upon Javelin from a spam advertisement, and decided to submit my information to learn more. I was contacted by a rep, and decided to meet with them the next day. After learning about the program, and expressing my interest to become a better SQL administrator, I was asked to meet with the classroom instructor to learn about his instruction. The instructor made me aware that he does not provide SQL instruction nor Web Administration. This should have been my red flag. The admission rep, however, baited the instructor by asking if he was getting updates to program to aid in this. The instructor stated that he was told that something was coming soon to aid him; in the meantime, he could give instruction on the MCSE course to become a Systems Engineer. He explained how this certification would aid me in showing my proficiency in Network Administration and Implementation. Since this would prove valuable for my current position, I decided to speak more with the admissions rep.

In the reps office, we discussed what Javelin had to offer for my course. I questioned the testing center logo I observed on the front entrance, and was told that Javelin does do testing and that we are a VUE center. I was informed that Javelin would pay for my certification to become a MCSE. When a student has completed their studies here with Javelin, their testing to obtain the title of MCSE is paid for by Javelin. Seeing that this would be a good move, I decided to further my education with Javelin.

Upon my second day in class, I learned that Javelin was providing instruction on the Microsoft 2000 Server, a certification retired two months prior. Upon meeting with my instructor, he informed me that he was giving instruction from his personal software while awaiting Javelin to update. I asked my instructor to join me in speaking with the Director of Education on this unacceptable situation. The DOE was not available, at which point we went to the Campus Director. Speaking with Mr. Ken Clarke, he informed me that the software was on its way and that it would be provided in a week. Thinking that that was all, I went about the rest of my week.

When the software did not arrive, I went back with my instructor to discuss this matter with the Campus Director. He stated that there was a curriculum issue that needed to be addressed before the software could arrive. I asked why no information was given to my instructor or a message sent to my class. He said that they planned to but that they had been very busy. Asked for a time frame on this, and was given the date of 5/14/08. I left this meeting feeling miffed again about the situation, but I awaited the 14th.

During this time, I became aware that Javelin will only pay for one exam, and not the certifications for the MCSE. I went again into a meeting with my instructor and the Campus Director. I told the Director that I wanted my money back because I was brought in under false pretenses and this was not acceptable. The Director said that he would pay for 4 exams (3 cores and an elective) and I would be responsible for the remaining. He would also check the progress of the SQL material, and a few other issues discussed. I told him that I wanted this in writing, and he said that it would be provided on the 14th when the new study material arrives.

When the 14th arrived, the materials still was not available, nor was my agreement for the testing. From this point, my classmates and myself form a committee from the encouragement of our fellow students. We would speak on behalf of the students of the IT program and fight to get results. Our first meeting was on the 14th of May, at which time we spoke on and provided a list of materials needed in our classroom for us to obtain the proper instruction promised. We gave weekly deadlines only to be misled, lied to, and told NO on 13 separate occasions.

On 6/12/08 we were given five items on our list, but not enough to supply the class with the needed resources. We argued this fact with the Campus Director, who stated that we would have a the necessary materials again on the 6/18/08.By this point we had had enough, and informed the Director that we would be meeting with Lawyers and news media. He asked for an extension to 6/25/08. We gave the opportunity only to be lied to again. We tried to meet with him for the next two weeks, finally getting together on 7/9/08; and being told that we would have a final meeting with all of the necessary heads ton 7/10/08 to bring a final resolution. On 7/10/08, we agree to that we would no longer pursue action if by 7/15/08 the following items were provided:

12- 80GB Internal Hard Disk drives

And, by 7/18/08:

1- Licensed Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Software CD
1- Linksys Router
1- 5 port Switch
1- Network Printer
4- Crimper Tools
3- Modems
2- ESD Kits
1- Box of RJ45 connectors
2- Laptops for A training
3- XP PCS for troubleshooting
12- 1GB jump drives

And, a final word on providing internet connection for classroom instruction in curriculum.

At this time we are awaiting the arrival of these materials. If these materials are not received, we will be pursuing further action.
