Javelin Technical Training Center
Javelin Morrow Campus, Lack of Resources, Fraud, False Advertising, Lies

I am Shay; I have been a student since September at Javelin Technical Training Center, Morrow Campus. I enrolled in the ITP 'Information Technology Professional' program.

I was referred to Javelin by my Best-friend of 20 years; we had been talking about a career change for quite some time. It took her a while, but she talked me into enrolling at Javelin, we had planned on going through the classes together.

After learning about the different types of programs, the one that caught my attention was the Web Design. The Admission Rep Lena told me that they just this week stopped teaching the Web Design course. That is why it's still on the folder that they give you to put your admission paper work in. Lena told me that the Instructor would still be able to teach me Web Design, because the class was small.

So now I have to pick another class to enroll in. So I chose the ITP course, I was told that the Morrow campus was a testing center. Therefore I didn't have to travel to another site for testing. I was also told that as part of the tuition that Javelin would pay for them. I thought that was wonderful! I felt like this is the best choice for me, instead of go to GA Military College in Union City. I wanted to meet the Instructor that day but for some reason it didn't take place. I also find out a few weeks later after attending class; Javelin doesn't pay for any of the certifications. They say that they pay for one certification, but the catch is that the price of one certification was included in the tuition fees. So, really the student is paying for the certification.

My first day of class I met my Instructor, Kevin. He told me that I made a good decision to enter the IT field. He told me that the first 3-days just read my books and on the 4th day we will start having lectures. There were a few people in the class there was another female that wasn't there a lot, so mainly I was the only female which really wasn't a problem at first. As time went on I was very shocked about the behavior of the Instructor.

The Instructor talked about everything under the sun (ex: smoking drugs, prostitutes, selling items on Craig list, and what he has done in the past/present to females, etc.) We had lectures on computer stuff maybe once a week if that. I thought it would get better but it got worse. So I started complaining to my Best-friend that talked me into coming here. I would call her on my cell phone and let her listen to this non-since. She attended night classes and wasn't having any of the problems that I was. I guess one day she got tired of me calling her everyday letting her listen to all of the non sense, she addressed the problem with the Student Service Advisor (Great Lady!).

I was approached about the problems that I was having the next morning. Well, needless to say I started having a harder time from the Instructor. The class had another lecture, but this lecture had nothing to do with computers, the lecture consisted of him telling everybody that I went and told like a child. I was told that Javelin had many complaints about his lack of professionalism. So, I was asked by Mr. Worthy to just be patience, they were working on the correction plan with the Instructor. The comments kept on, new students would complain as well.

Then the Instructor quit in November. So, I still ask to this day if this was going on before I enrolled in September, why wasn't something done? How did he just decide to quit?

So, for about a month and a half to two months went by with no Instructor. We finally got an Instructor mid January 08. I started requesting meetings to start asking for my time to be extended/credited to make up for the time that we didn't have an Instructor. I was told no by Mr. Worthy.

Then I soon learned many meetings later that we have something called extended learning. I wanted to know what that was, I never heard of it before. We are charged $1,400 for extended learning that no one knows about. Just like I found out, about being able to do these classes on-line. I asked for on-line learning so that I could catch up from the work that I couldn't do, due to the lack of not having an Instructor. Once again I was told no by Mr. Worthy.

Now my question is this, why do some of my classmates have on-line learning and I don't? I have been here almost a year and they have been here for a few months. I have been made many promises by Mr. Clarke, to try to address the problems and make things right. Needless to say that the promises where broken and I was lied to. I would always ask Mr. Clarke to put it on paper. Every time I would go to pick up my letter of his promises, or the change of action, the letters wording was always different.

I had told them that I wasn't happy about the fact, that Javelin covered them and makes it look like it was an academic problem (me). I also sent many certified letter addressing that it is clear that I was just another number to make Javelin's numbers look good, and the money they got for my tuition, and seeking correction for my time lost due to no Instructor.

I found out that Microsoft 2000 Server, a certification that retired two months prior we where still being taught. So I question where was the ball dropped? How this notice could be posted for a while from Microsoft and our programs not be updated? Isn't it someones job to make sure that we are to be taught the latest up to date programs? I would think so since we are paying over 10K a piece.

So after many complaints from students it was decided to provide the students with an up-to-date media base 2003 track. But of course it came with a price, we where without an Instructor while he assisted in making the up-to-date media program. The funniest part to me is that the Media Base program isn't working correctly to this day. On June 10th my classmates got their 2003 XP Books. I had to write a letter to Mr. Clarke requesting my set of 2003 XP books. As of today July 16 I still don't have my books. Wow.

Also the night Instructor, sometimes comes to the morning class to get taught different programs. Question, if you are an Instructor why are you coming to and interrupting morning class to learn something you should already know? I have told the Director Mr. Clarke, Mr. Worthy, and Mr. Wallace that I wanted my money back because I was brought in under false pretenses, didn't have the proper equipment for this course and this was not acceptable.

For example: we were giving thumb drives to store our work on. The thumb drives has a viruses on them. We don't have a working router missing a power cable, switches, licensed version of XP professional and Server 2003. No Server, no lab machines, no network printer, no internet access to download drivers etc., low on hard drive space, errors on the media base training (all new courses are on here), laptop (the one we have doesn't have a screen).

Also there are broken chairs throughout the school; we had a meeting with Mr. Clarke about new chairs. I was sitting in a chair; it made a noise and dumped me to the floor. I landed on my left hip, now the kicker is that it took me falling out of the chair and a classmate calling OSHA to come out. For Javelin to replace some of the chairs and get all of the many wires off of the floor.

Isn't punching the wires something that we the students need to learn for when we have found employment in the IT field? We are also being told that we the students will never be more than a help desk person.
We the Students keep getting lied to, and promises made, for an example in one of the meetings between the Students, Mr. Clarke and Sergio. Sergio told the class that he has personally seen a router, switches, punch down, laptops in the IT classroom working. That is a Lie, I have been here since September 07, and the only thing that we have is a laptop without a screen, and a router with out a power plug collecting dust and there are pictures to support our fight.

I have already starting to have meetings with Lawyer; my next step is the news media. I have seen, and heard, sexual language from Instructors and fellow students.
