I have been attending University of Phoenix online classes since August. I am pulling a 3.0 GPA. I was hit head on by a lady in late jan. And have had to go to physical therapy ever since. Last month my 16 month old had chicken pox and about a week and a half before that my 4 year old was taken to the ER for an illness. I had to miss work both weeks to tend to my kids which gave me little to no time to do my work, but I was still getting it done. My GPA shows that. I informed my counselor here, and my academic and financial counselor my situation, and I ended up being 1 day over on attendance because of my situations at home and they dropped my one class.
The thing is though, I finished my final project in my class, recieved a grade on it, and it shows on my grade report that I got a A - overall in that class. This past weekend was the end of the class for the first academic year. So they graded my final assignment, it showed my overall grade on my grade report, and then they dropped me from the class becuase of one day. How can they drop someone from a class after they grade and post their final grade on the grade report? I had sick children to tend to, plus work, and I still got an A in the class, but the lady I talked to said it does not matter because I missed 1 day more than allowed for attendance. I find that a little unfair because I am excelling academically and keeping a high GPA and have not missed one assignment.
They screwed up my financial aid now and grants as well. They told me I have to retake the class, even though I did every last assignment, and I won't get my grant money until this class is re-taken. I depend on that money as well for bills and to take care of the family. I ended up having to cut 2 days a paycheck out of my schedule at work in order to do well in school or I would not of had time to do school. Things happen in people's lives and I still worked really hard despite everything that has happened this year, and now they flushed it down the toilet because of 1 day.
