Guardian Information Services ripoff scam dirt bags

Someone called me, stating they were contacting all NYS residents to provide information about centralizing medical records and could I please verify my address. I asked the caller what he was selling and he said nothing, this was info all New Yorkers were getting in the mail. I figured what the hell, its only my address, which is public knowledge anyways. The caller said I would receive my info in the mail within 5 days and it would contain purchasing information if I wanted to buy the package. So right off, he lies by saying he's not selling anything and waits to get my address before he mentions purchasing anything. The only info I gave this person was my address.

Today, I find on my bank statement, and ACH withdrawal for $229.95 with an 800 number listed next to it. I called the number and they stated that they are just a processing center for hundreds of companies, one being Guardian Information Services. (Next to the 800 number was the letters BL-indicating Guardian as the company getting the money. They gave me Guardians phone number.

The first person told me I had purchased an emergency medical kit from a company called EMID, located in Philadelphia. I stated that I had not purchased anything nor had I received anything, and decided to end the call and contact my bank. The next call I made to them, a rep tells me the same thing, that I purchased some kit. I told her I had NOT purchased anything and how did these people get my checking account info. She said they are not the actual company, just customer service for Guardian and there is no way to contact Guardian. She also said I couldnt speak with a supervisor when I asked, saying they had to send computer messages to contact supervisors.

I got the runaround from these people and never once would they explain how they got my information. She offered me a full refund and I told her I had already filed a revocation with my bank to get the money back. I then asked her what would have happened if I had bounced checks and she said that they arent responsible for that unless the tape proves I hadnt purchased anything. I asked what tape and she sputtered, then said the tape that the company has of sales calls. Earlier, when I asked who had sold this so called item to me, she said it was impossible to tell since they have salespeople all over the world and are unable to keep track of what they do.

This company is running some kind of scam. I have no idea how they got my checking account number but it had to have been through illegal means. The BBB has 38 complaints against this company, and I have just finished filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the NYS Attorney Generals office. If anyone else has had problems with this company, please go to FTC. Gov and file an online complaint against them.
