So a letter comes in the mail only after exhausting every effort with the mortgage Company, gee, imagine that (insert sarcasm) and I do mean and underline with bold type "EXHAUSTED". Not that the predatory lending experience wasn't enough followed by the ARM variable rate increase to a devastating amount that my bank account just laughed at. I get this letter declaring that the HOPE NOW ALLIANCE could somehow forecast the future that the 4 months delinquent house payment could be recovered from foreclosure. I bit the bullet and succumb to calling these folks that were obviously so back logged with "save them now from foreclosures" that they hung up on me 6 times.
Grant it I was calling from the Eastern time zone and all of these affiliated Debt Consolidation Loan Experts were thinking in terms of retreating to their own mortgages after a hard days work contributing to the debacle of these predatory lenders but, I had the letter in hand, waited my turn in line, and even gave somewhat personal loan id numbers to someone that wanted to throw me on hold for the next available representative. Hold the phone, I thought you were the counselor that could help?
Instead, I was off to classical musicville "HOPING" to talk to someone before days end. Obviously this fine oiled machine was government approved because it only sought debt protection for the Mortgage company. After listening to my SPIEL for 30 seconds I was rudely interrupted with, oh you're consulting an attorney? I never said retained, I said, "considering consulting an attorney". How quickly the "let me help you" became "I'm sorry, I cant be of assistance to you". This ominous saying has rung my ears dry. I can't see how this sort of practice is going to help those that want to stay in their homes? I can't see why it is I am not privy to representation but the mighty overseers of the account will line all the heavy weights against those that show an interest in protecting their rights? I don't see the logic in displaying an olive branch to keep someone from being homeless and then the mere mention of protecting oneself leads to that display of compassion becoming as much a mirage as the last. I don't know if writing is necessarily the right approach but I can't agree that the mortgage company has done everything in it's power to maintain my insolvency and as an olive branch displayed I think they deserve the same mirage as given to my home.
Especially since the efforts exhausted led to the household being served with foreclosure notice. So thanks to all of you that are in the predatory lending practice and to those that want to soften the blow of losing all you have worked so hard to attain by throwing a patsy "aka HOPE NOW ALLIANCE" in the way to mask your unfriendly "take everything they own" persona. What behooves me most is those that take an oath to "serve and protect" treat people as criminals when they come to take the property for auction. Whose interest is being protected, not likely the dept. Would strike in defense of those that were initially stolen from. Further I have to wonder what will become of all of those houses that don't reach a buyer on the steps of the court house?
Rather than strip people of their dwellings why not restructure before foreclosure is the only means to recoup? It seems to me that many houses, or in my case condominium, will just rot. I guess that'll suit me better than places like HOPE NOW ALLIANCE coughing up a little more blood from this already fed up turnip.
So let it be known we no longer live in the United States of America but the United Foreclosure of America. Thanks HOPE NOW ALLIANCE and all of those undeserving companies that arguably give one "HOPE" to remain in their home!
