I applied to GQ Imports from the CareerBuilder website. It really sounded like a job and company I would be interested in working for. Today, I received a call from a young-sounding representative. How young she sounded was the first thing that I noticed, but some people tell me I sound young over the phone so I didn't think much of it. She told me I was chosen to come in for an interview. I was so happy because I NEED the money right now. I told her I would be very interested in coming in for an interview. She told me that since the job was in Addison, I would need my own car because I live in Chicago and public transportation in not an option. Sad and dissappointed, I told her I did not have my own transportation. She said thank you and good luck and if anything came up in the Chicago area she'll let me know. I was so sad. So I went on the internet to look for the companies website to learn more about them. I Googled the company and the 2nd or 3rd hit was this website. I read all of the responses and rebuttals and I am shocked!!! This was one time where I was glad I didn't own a car, because if I did, I would have went to the interview and would have been subjected to all the negative events that everyone is talking about on this website.
It's a shame that people and businesses can scam people like this and get away with it. People are vulnerable to these kind of employment scams because they need jobs and money... People like me and my family. My parents want me to get a job so bad so I can be a burden lifted off of their shoulders, and they get angry with me when I refuse to answer a phone call or email from a person or business that I believe to be a scam. But I try to recognize the scam before I get scammed. I have been scammed a couple of times and I'm sick of it! While I'm wasting my time following up on a employment scam, I am missing out on a real, legit job! I am so glad I found this website!!!
