I read the many comments that were made against GQ Imports after accepting an interview with them. My first thoughts were that it was a disgruntle employee or someone trying to do a smear campaign against the company and owner.
I saw their multiple postings on Careerbuilder.com. So I applied. After receiving the confirmation email from Careerbuilder, I followed up with GQ Imports to see if I would get an interview. I did. To my surprise, the comments that the other individuals made are true. Yes, there is "loud" music playing in what you would call the reception area. The person sitting behind the desk does appear to be very young and inexperienced. She was having problems answering the phone and putting people on hold. Shortly after I arrived, a young lady arrived for an interview as well. We were both scheduled at the same time for an interview. WOW! As we completed our "application" we were called into the office by the owner of the company, Mike Kriss. I thought this was rather strange. Our interview lasted about 3 minutes.
We were asked what our hobbies or interests were. What do we consider to be our strongest characteristic? We were told that we would be contacted in 2-3 days because they were interviewing about 30 other candidates. I asked the Mike, if this was the position base commission or commission only. He said that it had a base, but would not say what it was. That information would be discussed in the next meeting.
I asked if the position came with benefits. He said that it did, but you have to wait 90 days. I asked who the provider was, he said BCBS. I also asked if GQ Imports was registered with the BBB. He said that he "thinks" they were and why did I ask. He soon hurried us out of his office so he could go to lunch. I know we all need jobs, but something is not right with this company. Please don't take my word for it, go see for yourself. If you are blessed to be working, don't quit your job. There is something about this company that doesn't sit well.
