I fell into the trap of bidding on Bidz.com - it was fun and the prices seemed ok. I was skeptical so ordered some low value items to have them sent overnight so I could see the quality. On one item I also ordered an appraisal. There were 14 items in all. I went to the order page, counted 14 items and checked out. I was amazed that I was charged an additional $3 per item shipping on top of $34.95 for overnight - plus the transaction fee - where do they tell you about that?
The day after I noticed there were another 7 items to be checked out - I was puzzled, looked at them and, sure enough, they were items I had bid on. I checked the initial order and noticed some items I was sure I had not won - I accused my husband of buying without me knowing - of course he swore blind he hadn't!
Anyway - today I saw a couple of items I liked and entered an "auto bid" - I was immediately told that they were too low so I let both items go.
Later on I was checking to see why my order had not been shipped (now 4 days including the weekend) and I noticed there were 2 items awaiting payment. These were the items I had bid on but NOT won. I was told to proceed to checkout? These items were being billed at the closing bid (in one case $25 more than I had bid) I got on to live chat and was told that they were second chance offers (SCO) and if I didnt want them then just not pay for them.
This made me think about the previous orders and so I checked. There are 9 SCO's on the order - the items I thought maybe my husband had bid on have actually been added by bidz.com without telling me. I guess they figure that if you order 14 items - they can add 7 - you dont think to check because the right amount of items are there. They then add your "real items" to another invoice and hope that you pay because you know these items are ones you bid on - by the time you realise what is going on, you have paid for all sorts of items you didn't win becuase the price was too high.
My orders still have not been shipped - I have paid over $80 in shipping for FeDex overnight and I am being told that the appraisal could mean a 10 day wait before the items are shipped at all.
As for the quality - that reamins to be seen - however, so far I am not impressed and, judging by the other reports on here - I really do not stand much chance of getting my money back.
Oh well - lesson learned - "If it seems too good to be true. It probably is!"
