I received a call from Premier One and a customer service reprehensive stated that I had applied for a credit card in the past and have been turned down before. He called me and said I was approved for a Visa or MasterCard with a credit limit of $2500. I was quite suspicious. I had asked him lots of questions and he seemed to be not very confident.
He got another person involved who was the verifier who sounded more confident. I asked both people if this was an unsecured credit card and they said yes it was. I gave them my back account information and they mentioned that the fee would be 174.90. I told them that it was ok to take that amount from my account on July 15th. The verifier recorded the call and she asked questions that explained the terms of the credit card offer and other benefits. After each question, I had to agree. She told me that the card was a "pay -as-you go" credit card. I told her no, I was told the card was an unsecured credit card with a $2500 credit limit.
She then stopped the recording, and we both had a conversation about whether the card was unsecured or "pay as you go". She assured me that the credit card was not "pay as you go". After that bit of conversation, she (the verifier) started the recording again and we went from the beginning. When we got to the statement regarding the "pay as you go, she had rephrased it differently so that it was unsecured and I agreed that was the case on the recording.
Next week after the phone call I had with Premier One, I decided to give them a phone call to check on the status of the card. I asked a CSR if the card was unsecured and he said it was "pay as you go". I told him I might need to re-think this offer and to change my draft date to 8/15. On 7/15/02 the money was drafted from my bank account. I called to have the money refunded and to cancel the credit card offer. The CSR I spoke with told me, I had to mail in the credit card kit that never arrived.
I sent my bank statement which showed that $174.90 was drafted on July 15th and a letter stating the reason for the refund to the "Corporate Office" via USPS next day.in the letter, I explained that I will incur NSF fees as well and that I would want them refunded. Guess what! I incurred NSF fees. This company can take out my money from my account in a day but could not refund my money so I could cover a few checks I had written. I called to have the date changed and the CSR actually changed the date to July 12th with me knowing this. I sent another letter to them with my bank statement illustrating numerous NSF fees.
Finally after calling Premier One so many times, I was transferred to the "Escalations department. This department gave me a fax number where I could send to "Corporate" my letter, bank statement and proof that I mailed "Corporate". I have sent 3 faxes already. The fax line was always busy. There are two fax numbers 1-800-644-5992 and 1-800-254-0185. The numbers are the same numbers used for Capital First. What a coincidence. Capital First is under scrutiny as well.
Finally, some young lady from Corporate called me (8/8/02) and stated that Premier One will refund me my $174.90, NSF fees and $100 for my late rent. I was delighted. She told me that it would take 3-5 "business" days to receive it. I was fine about that.
Since then, I cave called Premier One and the CSR's tell me that there is no note that I had a conversation with "Corporate" about a promise to refund me more than $174.90. I was told only $174.90 will be refunded will not start until 8/27/02. I was told that it could take 3-5 "business" days from that point to be redeposited to my bank account. What a mess!!! So in essence I can kiss away the NSF fee refund and the $100 rent late fee I incurred that the sweet person from "Corporate" detailed to me that I was to be refunded. I called the company to change the draft date and they did not do it. I have every right to get the other monies. The CSR told me that date was changed to 8/15/02 as I requested. Of course I cancelled all of this because of the early draft date and the fraudulence of Premier One.
