Responding to class-action lawsuit against UoP! Ripoff

I am all for suing the University of Phoenix.

Two years ago I enrolled, and was given a graduation date of August. Everything went smoothly, although my academic and financial counselors changed weekly for a while. I didn't experience any trouble up until a few months ago, when I noticed that my then-current academic counselor had arranged my classes to start every two weeks, instead of one class at a time with a week between them, as had been my habit up until that point.By the time I noticed what was happening, I had already been dropped from a class I hadn't expected to take for another three weeks!

I called my (different, by that time) academic counselor (Alicia Turvin) and told her what was going on. She fixed my schedule, but informed that instead of the 9 credit hours I had left (on my official UoP) course schedule, I actually had 24 credits to take before graduation. She could not explain to me why every other academic counselor I'd had up to that point had assured me that I was on track for an August graduation. I called her boss, who didn't call me back. I called HIS boss, who never called me back. I called HER boss, who never called me back. I finally sent an email to Alicia in which I stated that if I didn't get a response from a manager-type within 24 hours, I was going to the media. Alicia's boss called me later that evening.

Unfortunately, the story he (James McAdams) gave me was that some competency tests I had taken had accidentally gotten entered in as credits, and that's where 12 of those extra 15 needed credits had come from. The remaining 3 credits I was lacking were due to the fact that the UoP had lost my real estate transcript, and so I was being docked those 3 credits. Funny, those credits had been visible to every other academic counselor I'd had. Mr. McAdams suggested I CLEP the 15 credits (at my own expense; financial aid does not cover that) or resign myself to an April '08 graduation.

Fine. I was angry, but soldiered onward. A few weeks back, I got a letter from the financial aid office of UoP telling me that since I was graduating in August I should start thinking about making plans to pay back or defer my loans. A few days after THAT, I got a letter from the Office of the Registrar telling me that I have TWENTY-SEVEN credits left before I can graduate.

I have called Alicia Turvin several times in the last few days. She hasn't called me back. I have called James McAdams. He hasn't called me back, either.in fact, the only person who will call me back is my enrollment counselor (Lauralee Jessup - possibly the nicest, most helpful woman I have ever known... I have only positive things to say about her!), and she is not in a position to do anything to help me.

Oh, did I mention that I was denied a major promotion (which was contingent on the receipt of my degree in August) because of all of this?

I would love to see a class-action lawsuit started, here. I think we should all be given our degrees, or at least be reimbursed for the financial aid bills we racked up playing this game.

I have my alerts set to notify me when anyone responds to this thread, so hopefully we will all get in touch and fix our collective problems! Does anyone have a lawyer in the family?:)
