During the Admission process to enter IADT I ignored warning signs. I ignored the signs because after looking at the school, classrooms, and labs, everything seemed fine—by Chicago standards. The first warning sign was: so many television commercials. That school must have tons of money! I have worked in advertising, so I know how much commercial time costs. Actually, that should have been the end of my pursuit. Boy am I sorry I didn't take heed! Why didn't I think about it: Does Harvard advertise in that manner?
Abrupt, impatient Admissions and Financial Staff leave rude, sarcastic telephone messages and bully prospective students to rush through the admissions-to-enrollment process.
They cancel applications rather than defer to the next quarter. Who ever heard of that! Once they've canceled you, they don't return your telephone calls. I've never seen a school that wouldn't change an entrance date.
In my entire career as a student, I have never encountered such behavior at any institution of higher learning.initially, I just thought this was a "Chicago thing." Sad to say... Underqualified leaders and staff, unrefined people in high places, and disrespectul behavior toward certain groups are all normal and considered acceptable in this area; but reading complaints from other parts of the country about this same school showed me that there is a serious problem with IADT in general. Serious minded, struggling people who are working toward a better future should not be treated in this manner.
