I was recently taken by Consumer Credit Services and they were going to take me for more and never got more than a cheap plastic card in the mail with a large, as in several, digit account number.
They first did a "debit" draft on my banking account in the amount of $249.99, which when they first tried it was returned to them unpaid, as it was before my payday. However the bank did charge me a $24.00 overdraft fee in additon.
Before I had a chance to get to my bank and sign a stop payment on this company from taking the $249.99 again, they sent an ovenight elctronic transfer through and my bank honored the amount and it is now in their hands.
I later got a receipt from them that "Thanked Me" for becoming a new member and my catalog would be in the mail shortly. I have yet to receive said catalog and this is now past two months.
Also on the thank you was a detail list of what other "bank drafts" they were going to take from my account on August 1st of this year as follows: Payment Security Benefit $99.99; Product Protection Shield $99.99 and last was for Annual Fee $99.00.
I immediately sent them a letter, as they indicated I would have to do before the August 1 drafting or they would continue and take the above stated amounts. The letter was mailed on July 9, and I sent a copy to my bank, my attorney and the State Attorney General Office.
Today I got a call that went to my voice mail, asking me to call them at once, which I do not intend to do. I am closing my current bank account and going to open a new one with a different account number.
All of this would have come to $548.97 to them for a card that you can only use from their catalog and you also must pay at least a 30% downpayment with any order before getting any goods.
Sincerely,
Henry
