MRC receivables filed a claim against me more than a year ago. After not getting anywhere they changed there name to Midland Credit Management and again filed for judgement against me. It was "Dismissed without prejudice" Which means they can refile. I contacted them and disputed the claim as directed in the letter they sent to me. They said I couldn't dispute the claim and I said there own letter said I could so I did.
After a heated discussion with one of the reps over the phone, I told them I sent the dispute letter and requested proof of there claim. I recently received a letter from them offering me a "deal". Surprise surprise, no proof. It actually said that "dispite the fact the court found me liable for the balance; there client was willing to extend to me a settlement offer.
I was at the courts building today and requested all info on this case. Nowhere in there records or mine is there a judgement against me for them.
It is unfortunate that these companies can make falsified and unfounded claims against anyone they want and put negative information into there credit file and not be responsible for there actions. If you have had similar issues with others collections companies get a copy of your report and dispute any and all negative info in your file.
