I was straped for cash and made a loan with a payday advance company (that is another consumer complaints intials UCL) - this place took several charges out of my WAMU account unauthorized. I calloed and the ACH transaction were reversed. At the time I paid for a stop payment.
I was told that it would cover all my accounts and cover the company for any transactions. Tne very next week the same company taked more money from my account! I called and was told by a manager that the stop payment was done wrong and they filed disputes and the charges were disputed - at that time the stop payment was to be corrected to cover this company, Over a week later the charges had not been reversed so I called.
I was told by the ACH department that the stop payment was fine but the disputes did not get to the proper department ans that they would take care of it. They did and the charges were reversed within 24 hours. The very next business day the same company took 385.00 out of my checking account by generating a paper check on my account. No authorization no signature - nothing! It clearly has the company name in the payee line - the company that the stop payment was for - but the check was allowed to clear!
I was told by WAMU that becasue it was a check and not an ACH payment that the only recourse was to file with the fraud department of WAMU - I did - and it was denied - get this "becasue I had a prior business relationship with the company!" What??? So what???
I have prior business relationships with a lot of people but that does not mean they can steal from my checking account when ever they want to. I have called and tried to appeal this but there seems to be no such thing. Mind you this decsion was made in a matter of hours with no investigation of the situation at all!!!
They did not even ask the company to prove they had authorization to submit this check!!! So basically even though for three weeks I have been calling and stating that this company has NO authorization to take from my account and paid for a stop payment I have no way to get my 385.00 back!
