Washington Mutual
Poor money management. Horrible customer service

We have had our mortgage with Washington Mutual for 1 yrs. We have had nothing but trouble from them from the start. First of all we didn't choose WaMu our loan was sold to them. We have had so many problems with them, but I will only grip about the ones that have to do with payments.

Last month we sent WaMu (Washington mutual) a check for $700.00 our monthly mortgage payment plus a little extra. 10 days later they only deducted 500.00 out of our checking account. So I called them. I explained to them that THEY made a mistake. They tried to tell me I only made a partial payment I told her, NO I DID NOT I'M LOOKING AT THE CHECK RIGHT NOW. It reads plain as day $700.00 and it is spelled out seven houndred dallors. You guys made the mistake. She told I needed to use the just in time electronic payment option. It would cost me $15.00. I told her I am not paying that I didn't make the mistake you did. Then she told me I would have to send them a check for the rest of the payment amount, but I would have to pay a late fee because it was the day before it was due and it wouldn't get their in time. I told her no I would not. I made my payment on time you guys are the ones that made the mistake. I will not pay for it. She put me on hold to talk to her supervisor then came back several minutes later. She stated to me that they would be able to wave there just in time fee just this one time, and she acted like it was going to kill her to do me this big favor. I have to state again. I DID NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE THEY DID!!! So I gave her my info and they deducted the other 200.00 out of my account.

I thought everything was fine. Then the next day I was checking my checking account, and WaMu was deducting another 200.00 dollars from my account. Man was I out raged. I called my husband at work he came home and we both called WaMu together. They told us they didn't deducted $200.00 twice. I explain to her that for 1 yes they did, and for 2 when I was calling them you can listen to your account info and that stated that I made a payment of $500.00 and then a payment for $200.00 and now another $200.00 was being put toward our principle. Once again I was put on hold. When she came back she told me that a claim would be filed and that while they where trying to find out what happened WaMu would pay for any overdrafts we received. I asked if I would have to wait for them to send me a check, or if it would be put back into my account. She stated it would be put back into our account. Then I not so nicely explained to them that my money would be put back into my account ASAP. They took it with out asking and they will put it back. After talking to her supervisor she told me my money would be in my account that night.

Well I was satisfied. I hate having to be rude to people that don't have anything to do with the problem they just happened to answer the phone. That night WaMu called to tell us they had only received a partial payment and was demanding us to pay. I thought my husband was going to go through the roof. After and very stern conversation he felt they where set straight. She even apologized to us which until then no one had done.

The next day the money was back in my account.

Then the day after that another $200.00 was put into our account. So now we where back to only making a partial payment. When I called they stated to me my account was up to date and my next payment was due on April 1st. We called our bank we have our checking account with explained everything to them. They stated we should wait a few days and let them find the mistake. If by the end of the month they do not find it we should then call them. Several days later they finally corrected their error and now everything is right.

I have never seen a bank manage money so poorly.
