I have been a customer with Cross Country Bank for over a year. I got two months behind at one point, and they called to make payment arrangments with me to bring my account back to a current status.
I agreed to make $70.00 per month payments for three months which would bring me back under my credit limit, and clear the late fees. The payments were scheduled for the 25th of each month.
I made the payments as scheduled, but my balance kept going up. Shane Nef, the CEO, called me one night and informed me that the customer service rep who made the agreement with me told me to pay on the 25th of the month, but my due date for payment needed to be paid on the 15th, so I was assessed the late fees.
He told me that they would correct this problem, and my account would be back to currrent, and all I had to pay was the minimum due on my account of $35.00 per month to keep it in good standing, and no more late fees or over limit fees would be assessed.
Well it has been close to a year since that phone call, and since then, my account has jumped from $539.00 to $970.85. I have called, and and I have written to clear this up. They tried to tell me in a letter that I would need to pay $400.00 to get the late fees off of my account. They won't talk to me on the phone if I am not late.
I have more than paid off my debt with these people. I have asked to have this account canceled. I am still being assessed over-the-limit fees, fees, and more fees.
I am thinking about taking this case to a lawyer. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to email me.
Thank you.
