I almost got roped into this scam of a job opportunity till I cleverly decided to reasearch this company through google and came across these witty and humorous comments about this company. Also the myspace page added a little clue as well.
It is easy to see how individuals get roped in; the company has a legitimate and professional looking website, the adds in the newspapers and the job website make it seem legitimate. But once you get into the interview process an eerie feeling does come across.
The Image Imports in Woburn, MA had all those feelings aswell. I walked in and saw a room painted in a dark maroon, black leather couches and a giant Patriots Helmet painted on the wall behind the receptionist desk (ps she has myspace too, she calls herself a marketing administrator.) I also saw a WB sign, and MLB sign, and Disney sign on the wall.
Interesting to say the least, but the decor defanitly did not scream corporate america. It was way to small of an office building for what they claim they were accomplishing.
The interview process was similar to that of what everyone else has claimed, they had a young pretty looking girl at the front desk, a mildly hansom late twenties man conducting the interview. No previous work history asked; just the "what was your major", "what are your hobbies", "whats the one thing you look for in a company", "part time or career". I felt more like I was having a conversation with a fellow college student then having an interview really.
I was smart enough to have gotten to the interview early so that I could go over my resume and the description of the job I had gotten off of bostonjobzone.com. Sitting in the parking lot I noticed several people leaving the office and get into a car. I also noticed other individuals going into trunks and grabbing duffle bags and colorful boxes out of those trunks. I didn't think anything of this till after I came to this website and read all of the reviews.
This part of woburn where the office is located is in the industrial section, that means several other buisness are connected to their office and the surroudning area. So at first I didn't think anything of it. But now I know and understand that this job is now what it appears to be. You may have room to grow, but youll loose the best of years of your life and a lot of money in the process.
Just to getliscened in massachusetts to do this job is $500 dollars for one year, and most buissness don't allow solicitation (infact this is the first time I have heard of solicitors still in action in the las 46 years).
I am under the assumption, so my information may not be accurate, that most of the individuals doing the solicitation may not have that liscense, which means that all individuals doing the solicitation may be in violation of section 3 of chapter 101 of Mass General Laws. Since the company is relativly new, if this assumption is true, they may not know that (and well hopefully now they do).
I thank everyone who placed a complaint of this company before for helping and stopping me from wasting my time (since I was asked to come the next day and participate in what they call a "day of O"), frustration, stress, and any other annoyance I may have recieved.
