Complaint / Review
Citibank (Citigroup)
Citibank dishonest fraudlent unprofessional swindlers

Many, many years ago - my family and I filed for bankruptcy because we had 3 kids to raise and had trouble paying our bills - a bankruptcy that unfortunately included Citibank. (This was way back in the 80's!)

Well, we thought we had everything covered and would be able to start rebuilding our lives again shortly after that. Fast-forward now to the year 2006 - my family and I decide that we want to try to purchase our first home. Well, as many of you probably already know - before you can buy a home, you have to get pre-qualified. Right? Right.

So we have our agent run a credit check, as is one of the many/usual steps to getting pre-qualified. Well, guess what happens?! Guess what shows up as an "open account" on our credit check... Yup, if you guessed "Citibank" - then give yourself three cheers, a pat on the back, and a year's supply of donuts/ice cream!

In addition to this, we found out throught this credit check that 2 accounts were *UNKNOWINGLY* opened and closed in 2003 and 2005. We immediately called Citibank (initally to one of the main offices in NY) and tried to find out why these two accounts were showing up on the credit report. We were transferred to the Fraud/Investigations Department, where we were told that an investigation would be started. We recieved a "control number" that was suppose to allow us to call in and check the status of this investigation, if we heard nothing back within 5-7 business working days.

Went also sent the Citibank Service Center (in San Antonio, TX) a copy of the bankruptcy papers and also inquired in the same letter as to why these two accounts were showing up on the credit report. So far, we have heard *NOTHING* back from them! (Not a big enough surprise there to make you crap your pants - eh folks?)

We have tried calling them back at this number that they gave us, but the number has since been disconnected! And everytime we try calling a different number, we always get the usual, run-of-the-mill, boringly expected run-around - with a transfer from one department to the next.

It's freaking ridiculous - what an absolute joke and utterly poor excuse Citibank is for "professional" company/business/bank! I don't even know why or how Citibank is still in business to this very day - other than ripping people off and screwing them over! (I feel even more sorry for the people that actually choose to work there!)
