I applied to this school in the fall of 2005 and began classes there in January yet during the application process I saw that they were charging close to $12,000 that if you include extra stuff like a table and/or chair and supplies.
The representative I met with was named Jessica (Jess) Popov and I noticed that when I reviewed the enrollment packet the application and the student handbook didnt have any reference to accomodating or assisting students with disabilities.
As I progressed in the program and subsequently ended up on academic probation and had to meet with the dean her attitude was pretty dense and during the short meeting I had with her she would look at her watch while writing things down and to me she was on my time since I paid good money to go to school there.
They're asking for a lot of money close to $12,000 if you include the cost of your supplies consisting of a table and/or chair and oils, towels, and sheets.
This school seems to care more about filling seats than to give students a memorable experience. My experience was dealing with nit picky staff and somewhat cold and dense administration since the dean of students was pretty rude to my mother who called to speak to her out of concern and I think she did this because the school has complaints riding against them. If you called to speak to someone you talked to their voicemail and sometimes they wouldnt return your call in the case of me asking the primary instructor to request an extension on an anatomy and physiology test and I called her a week in advance and she didnt even bother return my call which I thought was very rude of her to do. You can be busy, but at least have the decency and courtesy to return a simple phone call because if a student is serious about discussing their grade or something pertaining to the class they'll contact the professor. The nit picking got to me since I was doing my best to keep up only to be the butt end of constructive critism.
I can't really say that I would recommend CSMT to anyone who chooses a career in massage therapy because there are far better schools that at least focus on the quality of training and educating massage therapists not filling seats.
It's disgrace that this school has poor customer service and that it's a waste of money because of the undue stress and anguish you deal with in this institution and yet you have to turn your life upside down just to make it through the program so in other words it's not worth $12,000. The instructors need to be held to the same standards as teachers who work K-12 and college / university professors under the laws and guidelines set for certifying and licensing teachers in the City of Chicago and the state of IL.
If students are going to pay that kind of money at least provide them with well certified and licensed teachers.
