My wife and I drove about 40 miles to do business with Cottman trans. Whom We thought was reputable at that time. We arrived as they opened in the morning and wanted something checked out that was minor. They did so and said they would have to look inside the trans and it would be a charge of $250.00 that would go toward repairs if needed.
We had to get motel as they kept car all day and at end of day called motel to say all things wore out over time. This is a 2002 model vehicle with 18,500 miles and transmission pulling very strong and performing good. I told cottman mgr.'Joe" to put trans back together and put back in car. He told me I would have to get it back in bushel basket, I then agreed for "o" rings they ripped up to be replaced, but, when I arrived at garage next day "joe" had an invoice charging us $2,343.00 for a rebuild, He evan claimed that He gave us a big discount.
We are senior citizens and it had taken us 2 1/2 years to have saved up $2,500.00, Mgr. "joe" had filed a report reading trans fluid was low and burnt, this was not true, neither was the idea trans was burned out. Transmission was pulling as hard and strong before cottman ripoff as it pulled after the cottman rip off.
We emailed a complaint twice (30 days apart to cottman customer relations and have not heard back from them) We have complained to the owner of ANY TRANS, Inc. Mv# 44802 and have not heard back from them. Cottman invoice reads cottman (352) is 'owned and operated by ANY TRANS, INC. Mv # 44802... It is also advertised as "Cottman trans. Of Marion county" (FL)
We are limited by finances as to how far we could go with legal representation and law suit against these people. Original reason for taking car in for minor adjustments was not addressed by Cottman and we later learned "check engine" light was due to faulty sending unit and not as a reason of anything wrong with trans. Whatsoever. At this point, after having to pay cottman $2,343.00, they are completley ignoring us.
If anyone is planning on doing business with Cottman trans. Any time soon, then We say to you..."GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK."
