10/30 My transmission went out on my 96 Chevy pick-up. I towed it to Cottman Transmission of Howell, MI.initially, I was told only one of three major components could cause my trouble. What do you know? ALL THREE parts were bad in MY case! Wanting a perfect job, I agreed to a complete over-haul ($1910.96).
10/1 My transmission goes after only 10,500 miles (approx.) and about three weeks left on the 12month/12,000mile warranty. Once again I towed it to Cottman trans. Of Howell. I was told the 3-4 clutch had failed (the original was still going strong when the pump went out at 160,000 miles!) Some type of repair was made, but "manager jim" told me since it was a free repair, there was no paper-work?! I really don't know what was done, (no old parts were shown) but "manager jim" told me I was "all set". I asked if there was any warranty and he told me only what was left on the initial warranty! Now they "climbed back inside" of my transmission to replace a component and there is NO WARRANTY?
11/18 MY TRANSMISSION FAILS AFTER ONLY 4,000 MILES! Out of warranty Cottman will not repair it. After complaining, they agreed to pay half of a rebuild. They're not getting another dime from me! This is ONLY ACCEPTIBLE IF: The work is done at a shop (non-affiliated with Cottman trans. U.S.A.-Cottman owns Aamco!) of My choosing. The (for the lack of a better word, other than spine-less wimp)"manager jim" would not release to me a contact number for the hiding, greedy, worm of an owner, mechanics license numbers that performed the services, or his copies of the work orders pertaining to the work done on my transmission.
The license displayed for the only mechanic on site, expired in Feb. Of this year, and NO TRANSMISSION ENDORSMENT! I have video and audio proof of my questioning of this pathetic waste of oxygen owner Chris Anderson has managing his shoddy trans shop with the big national name.
BEWARE! Cottman transmission and Aamco transmission are one in the same!
