I recently received a letter From NCO Financial Systems, INC, informing me that I owe them $236.82. Apparently this has stemmed from an old bill that I obviously neglected. THe bill in question was $26.92.
I will list below what the letter sent to me said:
Creditor: Bank of America
Acccount #: XXXXXXXXX
Principal: $26.92
Interest: $0.00
Interest Rate: 0.000%
Cost of Collections: $209.00
Other Charges: $0.00
Total Balance: $236.82
I have contacted Bank of America and advised them that I had neglected to change my address with them when I moved out of state. I also apologized for the delinquency and offered to pay by phone immediately. They advised me that my account had been sent to collections.
When contacting NCO, I advised their representative that I would pay the principal due, but I did not see it necessary to pay $209.00 in fees. I have as yet, refused to pay this. I assume I should file a complaint with the BBB, but I doubt even that would do a bit of good.
