Learning fraud, a 6th grader could pass their courses

In June I decided to go for my MBA on line by enrolling in the top on-line listed university; University of Phoenix. I completed all requirements and transferred my diplomas, grades, financial aid packets approved and started classes in the field of On-line Business that fall.

Course One, I could have taught with no experience. I received a B with out much effort. I learned nothing from the course. Most was graded upon statements/participation made in strings left in an online student message room. Assignments were elementary and submitted via email. No testing of any type was ever preformed.

Course Two, Was even easier and was of no use. Without trying I received an A. The instructor seemed nice, but again I learned absolutely nothing. No testing of any type was ever preformed.

Course Three, I was present for the first couple of classes and saw the same pattern present. No learning, a lot of money being spent through my financial aid qualification that would end with a papermill diploma. I informed the instructor and students that this was a rip off and I would not continue. I also informed that administration of the same.

For 2 Classes completed and one dropped within the first week, they charged me $9,529.81 not counting $110.00 registration fee and other assorted fees PLUS interest. Some of the money was advanced in the loan to pay back or use. I chose to use it at the time to purchase a lap top on which to work on this degree. That portion of the advance I do not dispute.

They justified the high charges by saying that I will be charged for the full term of classes remaining, even though I did not take part. They also charge and large amount over on-campus classes even though their expenses, ie; use of facilities, utilities, equipment was far less being on-line and using my own home.

My loan was immediately sold to SallieMae when they found out I did not want to repay the entire loan and resigned from the program.

My warning to everyone considering an online degree: When financial aid is the major part they are concerned with, and hand holding you through the process until you are approved and started in your first class - Think: Gee, maybe they are not concerned with my education. I wish I had investigated them further before starting. I figured a class or two and drop if it is bogus. For two substandard classes costing thousands was not worth it. Anyone interested in a class action suit please contact me. Thank you.
