I recently ordered my free credit report, via www.freecreditreport.com. I am the type of person who actually reads the 30-mile-long privacy policies on websites before signing up my e-mail for something, and I know how so many websites try to trick you into ordering additional services by automatically checking check-boxes next to teeny tiny text in the corners and bottoms of pages, and I made sure I knew exactly what I was ordering. I also keep track of every single penny I earn and spend. About a month later, my credit card was charged two amounts, one of $9.95 and one of $12.95 for membership fees for some credit services I never ordered. I called immediately demanding my money back, and obviously the company knows they are frauds and didn't try to argue, because they quickly issued a refund to my credit card within a week. It's no longer an issue for me, but I wanted to contribute my report to whomever might want it as mounting evidence against these frauds and this type of money-grubbing behavior.
