I used to have AOL and then stopped using it because I got DSL and the AOL software was always messing up my computer. So about two years ago I stopped using AOL, had to send them a fax saying that I wanted to unsubscribe and that was all I thought.
A few weeks ago I started receiving invoices from AOL demanding payment of $95.60 and "reinstate your credit status and account privileges with America Online". I just called to tell them that this information is incorrect and that in fact I had unsubscribed from them a long time ago.
The customer service agent was very impatient and wanted to transfer me to some fraud service. I am not going to call their fraud service when it is them who are trying to rip me off. So probably now they will refer me to a collecting agency and have my credit status ruined. Is there anything I can do about this?
