Donald Joseph Lemons is a retired government employee who owns businesses in Elko, Nevada, and works parttime for the local office of the Bureau of Land Management. He deals with gold, coins, currency, sells shoes and LDS books.
Since I worked with him parttime for approximately 2.5 years, I asked him to give me an estimate on what he would pay me for some of my jewelry. I gave him some minor gold and gemstone jewelry as well as my old wedding ring set, containing a marquise diamond approximately. 75 carats with side stones.
Since I knew him, I did not request a receipt. He said he had "ordered a machine" that would measure the quality of the diamond and was waiting on the machine. Two months later he came into the office and said the DIAMOND WAS FAKE! I know it was not. I told him to bring my jewelry back.instead, he came in and offered me $92 for everything. I told him I wanted my jewelry back.
After filing a police report, I did get everything back EXCEPT THE DIAMOND RING which he maintains he has lost. He says he will gladly reimburse me for the ring if I can prove the exact size and quality of the diamond, which he and his wife now SWEAR was no larger than 1/4 carat in size.
