I answered an on-line questionaire in order to receive a software CD. I found myself at a website which asked me to choose a "free gift". I chose a Linens'n Things gift
certificate as that was the only gift I might actually use.
The next day I get an email saying that I must cancel a membership to avoid being billed. The email said that I must cancel by telephone and the number was at the
website.
There is no link to the website in the email. To find the website I can look at dozens of Search engine hits on the phrase "simply you", or follow the path of websites that I took yesterday, which means that I would have to answer the time-comsuming
questionaire again.
I answered the email, saying to cancel my membership immediately, but I have no confirmation that anyone received my email or will respond to it. I believe this is a dodge to make it difficult to cancel an unwanted, un-asked-for membership.
I have not received the gift certificate or the software CD.
