I just found this site today. Approximately 5 years ago, Paul Berini of Tiburon, CA ordered several airline tickets for himself and some friends. Payment by check came immediately at first. When he ordered tickets he became very friendly, got into your head. I think he has some psyche training so beware. Eventually payments where harder to collect. The last ticket I did for him I needed payment in full for the entire account or no ticket. He faxed me a copy of a check for the full balance due, over $11,000. I checked if there was money in the account, there was, so I put in a prepaid airline ticket 2 hours before departure. The check never arrived.
He made several excuses, put in the airborne box for a Fed Exp. I turned his account over to a collection agency and they were unable to get money out of him. During our back and forth about the payment Berini had the audacity to request I send him back a nonrefundable tkt that he has used miles to upgrade. The ticket had never been paid for. He didn't seem to understand that when you buy something you have to pay for it. I was personally responsible for the entire amount, over $11,000. I work on commission so it hurt big time. It took me several months to pay off his debt.
Another thing, he was very good at never putting anything in writing. Everything was verbal. On one occassion he did send me a blank piece of letterhead. At the time i thought it strange but because he came to me via a regular client of mine I didn't question it.
Be ware of this guy. He is trouble.
