Deception from george s. May jobs

I'm so thankful for this website providing me with this information.

I interviewed for a sales job with George S. May on Friday afternoon. All the information that was spoken to me during my interview was inconsistent with what I had read (info they gave me) and what I was told again later by the Director of Personnel/National Director of Recruiting and also inconsistent with what he emailed as a confirmation and letter of acceptance. (Seems both men that I encountered at GSM have two titles each).

I was pressured into making a quick career decision to join thier company. I was given just hours to make a decision. I was not given enough time to read the ALL the FINE print regarding the position (well, since it was all told to me, why should I read it all over again???). I accepted the job and read the info later that night. I was told to keep calling them back that Friday after my intervew and each time I called I was stroked and validated with compliments galore as I was during my initial interview. When I tried to ask questions during these two calls I was put on hold in mid-sentence 3 times and my questions were strategically avoided. When I asked questions about compensation I was given different answers and now I can clearly agree with my instincts and see that based on information I reviewed on this website that this company is very untrustworthy.

This is an exerpt from an email I received from them just before I was ready to leave for Chicago from Minnesota. Please beware if you decide you're not "on board" with them during training, or even if they feel you're not a good fit - you'll find yourself getting the boot and quite possibly stranded in the Windy City.

*All information provided on the signed application is subject to verification. False information discovered while a trainee is in training could result in termination of training. Transportation would then be the responsibility of the trainee and would not be reimbursed by the George S. May International Company. Failure to provide proof of current insurance in the amounts listed above will result in termination of training.*

I also don't understand why GSM REQUIRES one to increase thier car insurance to $500,000.00/$250,000.00 and name them as "added insured" on your private car insurance policy.??? In one place on thier paperwork it states that YOU MUST BRING PROOF OF THIS COVERAGE WITH YOU TO TRAINING. And in the email I got it says you have until Tuesday to provide it to them. This can be used to their advantage to get out of paying for transportation for anyone not "fitting" the bill.

Today I came home to that said email from the National Director that was an "all new travel plan/agenda" from what we had already discussed and agreed upon. (Good that I happened to check my email and not went to the airport as planned). My instincts were telling me that the entire situation wasn't quite right and I called a friend who suggested I Google the company and I stumbled on usacomplaints.com. WOW thank God I did!

I called the National Director and first asked him about the original plan we had for travel and "he wasn't sure" if he had taken care of the airline ticket and he asked me if I would do him the favor of calling NW Airlines and confirming my flight and "go ahead" and put it on my credit card (he stated 3 times he would do this and during a final conversation we had he gave me the flight times & numbers, told me to pick up my e-ticket that would be waiting for me at the airport and he stated he was actually booking it and had his credit card out in his hand and paying for it online as we spoke). I asked him if my hotel was confirmed and he wasn't sure if that was done either. I was scheduled to travel tomorrow and he said he had this all taken care of. Well, I guess he did me a favor. When I brought up the reports that I read on the internet he said I OFFENDED HIM and his company is suing everyone who has a complaint on this website. I never even mentioned the website name.

There's my two cents worth and I'm thankful I can keep on looking for the right career. My deep condolences to all who have been "taken" by this company.
