Recently purchased 2 Hunter humidifiers Model # 33116. Acording to the on-line data the wick element will last for an entire season, I don't know what their season is. When the units arrived I read the operating manuel and found that it directed that the wick be raplaced on a monthly or sooner basis.
The price per unit was $39.99 with a shipping cost of over $20.00 for 2 units. On their web site I found wicks from $12 to $15. At that rate it will cost between $144 and $180 per unit or $288 to $360 for replacement wicks for just one season.
When Contacted the company said that was the way it was and that any differences between the on-line date and that printed in the manuel could have been resolved by calling their tech. Support line and asking the right questions.
I'm not sure but I don't think one should have to research multiple sources to determine details about a simple product. I feel they should be up front about the conditions and standards of their products.
I have requested, by email, the necessary document and instructions on how and where too return these items. Thus far I have not gotten a response and am beginning to think I won't get one. If I do get assistance in returning these items I will loose more than the cost of one unit just in shipping and handleing. However I will take the loss just to be rid of this junk. I am sure there are other Mfg. That can deliver a better, more reliable, and less expensive humidier, at least in the area of consumable parts.
I hope others have less trouble than I but from what I've encountered its nor likely.
