Allied Express Moving and Storage located in Canoga Park, CA along with their representative Tony Ouzo or Tony Ouzounian were very convincing with all of the promises of superior service that they would provide in my long distance move when I was bidding to move. Throughout my correspondence leading up to signing the contract Mr. Ouzo assured me his company was the "best" service out there also stating they had moved celebrities with very expensive furnishings therefore we should entrust his bid for our business. I thoroughly investigated this company via online to ensure that the obvious was intact - such as current licenses with the regulatory agencies, BBB, and insurances. I also did research online to ensure there were no complaints filed with online reporting entities such as this one. Nothing was found therefore I contracted with Allied for my move. Tony requested a complete itemized list of items that would be included in the "order for service" to ensure that my fear of being famously "gouged" would not happen. The contract was signed, dated, and I kept track of all documents and correspondence. Two weeks go by and on the day of my move, the same day I was to be flying east, a group of gentlemen - poorly dressed and very unprofessional show up at my doorman building. These men informed me they were the 'movers' and they were there to pack up and move my items as I had contracted with Allied Express Moving - but they were with a different company by the name of G&G Best Moving company. When I asked for further explination they were unable to communicate who they were and why this company was in my home that I had not hired or ever heard about for that matter. I decided it was best to call Tony with Allied Express immediately only to be told that Tony was out of the office on vacation. Upon their poor explination I was told that G&G Best Moving was sub-contracted by Allied Express and they would only be doing the move but I would still be in contact with Allied Express. Having never moved a long distance before I decided that this practice, although I was not familiar with, was perhaps common and allowed them to do the job. I initialed a book of papers quickly just being told that for liability purposes and handling of our items this was standard practice and all would be taken care of. G&G Movers packed everything down to my toothbrush and it took 5 movers all day to pack a one bedroom due to what appeared to be inexperience and complete unprofessionalism. Two weeks pass and the truck of furnishings arrive on the east coast with a different driver, with a different company. I was given a final invoice and tally of all the items moved to be 3x's what the contracted order service contract that was executed with Allied Express Moving and Storage. I was told that the driver and movers that I later found out were found off craigslist to unpack the truck would not unload until the amount was paid in cash. I contacted Allied Express Movers only to be told that Tony was no longer with the company.in the end, G&G Best Moving Company incurred damage to my furnishings that exceeded 20K claiming per law they are only responsible for. 60 per pound per item. I.E. Nothing. Allied Express Moving claim they acted ONLY as brokers and therefore are not responsible or held accountable for the charges by G&G Best Movers.in none of the correspondence or paperwork does it state Allied Express is ONLY a broker. They falsely represented themselves making false, untrue, and inaccurate estimates to contract business from unassuming consumers with the hope of promises of less expensive services when in fact they have no control and involvement in the pricing and charges of the moving company they will subcontract the service to without ever mentioning that is their intent. Allied Express promises labor, packaging and supplies to be included in their cost (in writing) but have no control of say in what the moving company they sell the contract to will charge you in the end. This company preys on innocent and often informed consumers with promises and assurances that they fail to deliver, or perhaps ever had the intention to deliver.
