Old Republic Home Warranty
Ripoff Poor Customer Service

My home was purchased in September. The home owner offered me a one year home warranty with Old Republic. First I had pipes leaking and second thing that happened was my heat was not working.

On October 15th I place a call to Old Republic on the two items. Well, pipe leaks are covered, but since it was leaking where the pipe was connected to the main stack it was not covered. The pipe has rusted and rust is not covered. I was a little frustrated, but I know a good cheap plumber so I caused no fuss.

Old Republic did dispatch a contracter to come out to my home for my heat. The contracter came out and told me the best thing to do was to replace the whole air handler. However, it would be fixed without being replaced. Just by chance, he did not have on him what he needed to fix it. (Sequencers and Wires) You would think someone that would certified heating and air could someone pinpoint what the problem might be and be prepared. I paid the $75 trade call fee expecting my heat to be fixed as soon as another appointment could be set up.

A rep from Old Republic called me on the next business day and stated that my claim was denied. Their contractor states that it was caused from the improper installation of the evaporator coil, which was done prior to be buying the home. No where on the report the contractor gave does it state anything about the coil.

It was my choice to have a 2nd opinion. My service tech came out and told me not that was not the problem and also that my thromstat was bad on the heat side. He called his finding into Old Republic.

On Oct. 25th I spoke to a rep at Old Republic who read back to me what my service tech had called in stateing wires were old and thermostat went out due to normal use. I was told the contractor would call me back to schedule a time to fix everything.

An hour later I received a call saying my claim was once again denied. At the same time their contractor called me wanting to schedule a time. Old Republic has already faxed a request over to them, but were now denying the claim.

The service rep Ken stated that my tech had the same findings as their contractor even though actually neither tech told me what they were telling me. Nor, was it what the previous rep stated to me on the phone earlier that morning.

He tried to get my tech on the phone with me, but could not reach him. He tried to call me back once he called in and I was unable to anser my cell phone. Ken stated that I was not going to be happy until I heard it from the tech myself. He also stated that he would go around the block for me ONE more time and if I didn't answer the phone next time it would be my fault and he didn't care why I didn't answer my phone. I did not hear anything back from Ken.

During the previous conversation I had also told Ken, the rep, that I would get a lawyer if I had to and let everyone of the realty companies in town know about their horrible service. His reply to that was to do what I had to do, they didn't care.

I even asked if I needed to get a 3rd opinion. Ken stated they were done spending time and money on me. They only sent out one tech and took a few phone calls. They did not pay for the 2nd opinion.

With only having the policy a month I asked how much would be refuned to me if I cancelled. WOW a whole $25. Out of I think $340. So in all $340 was paid out for the plan and then $75 for the trade call fee. For them to be rude and not want to fix a thing.

Just think... On their hold message it states... We understand the difference between customer service and company policy!!!
