It has now been approximately 5 1/2 months since I contacted Campbell appliance to come out and repair a Minor leak in the door of my fairly new LG washer (3yrs), this was the only problem with the washer. There were no errors, noises or any other problem with the washer. The door leaked a little water down and would accumulate in the storage stand, otherwise it worked quite well.
A technician came out for less than 15 mins., adjusted the (door hinges) and informed me that if that did not solve the problem that I would need to have the seal replaced and handed me a $120 service call bill. The door seal is bad on a relatively new top of the line washer? Oh well no more LG products. We are a two person household with no children, so you probably could count the number of cycles on this top of the line washer. Well it lasted only a couple of days then started to leak again only this time twice as bad and now the washer was giving a door open error and was hard to start. This had never occurred prior to the “Door hinge adjustment”.
The serviceman return looked at the washer said that he would need to replace the seal. After waiting for a month or so to get the seal, he arrived and replaced the seal. But after replacing the seal; the washer would not start at all. At this time I was told that the door switch was bad and that he would order another for $150. The switch was ordered and installed with exactly the same results the washer would not start. I was then told that after consulting with LG tech support, that the control board was bad, another $200. Waited Several Months for the new board to come in, when it finally arrived –“Wrong Board” Waited another few weeks for the correct board, when it came in, I’m sure you can guess by now - Yep same problem washer will not start.
I was then informed by the technician that there was nothing further that he could do, Thank God, and so another technician was sent out. Within less than 10 minutes he jumpered the door switch and had the washer running, But… that the “HINGES WERE BAD”, but since this had gone on for so long he would locate the hinges and install them as soon as possible. He contacted me a few days later and informed me that he had the hinge and would be out on Thursday to install it. I informed him that I could not be there on Thursday (Big mistake on my part) but Friday I could take off and get this thing finished. We agreed to Friday. I took off Friday and waited the entire day. “No one showed up, called or anything”.
At this time I've about had it. Could not wait until Monday to call and talk to the service manager. Then first thing Saturday morning I received a call from the dispatcher asking if I would be home on between 12 and 2 and that they would send a tech out to install the hinge. Hooray it’s finally over what more could go wrong? I cancelled my To do list and got dressed to run some task…. When the doorbell rings at 10:50, it the 12pm Tech. Ok let’s forget that and get the washer fixed.
To my Horror, it was first tech, the same guy that had destroyed my washer in the first place. I thought to myself this guy probably can’t even replace the hinges. ….. OMG I was right!!! After some banging and other sounds he told me that he couldn’t get the screws out and that “HE WOULD BE BACK ON MONDAY”.
To finish this off, I sat at home again all day today just dreading this guy’s return, as it turned out it was my Lucky day, your organization was true to form….. NO ONE EVER SHOWED UP or even bothered to call.
To end this nightmare, would you please send SOMEONE ELSE out to put my washer back together, the door is on top of the washer and there are parts all over the washroom, refund the $300 or so dollars I’ve paid you so far. I’ll get someone else to repair it.
The kids are coming home for Christmas and I would like to have the washer working when they arrive.
