In October I called Fabriclean, a company we had used in the past to clean our area rugs. We had been very happy with the earlier job but little did we know, the company had been sold to Mike Carvalho in 2009. Arrangements were made to pick up the rugs to be cleaned and Mike was the person who arrived at our house. He was late and I needed to be at an appointment soon so the pick up was done quickly. I failed to get a receipt but, since we had not had a problem with them prior, I was not worried. We were having company to visit in a week and he said he would have them back by then. Two weeks later I called and he promised to have them soon, saying they had equipment problems or something.
I called the police early on and filed a complaint but was told that, without a receipt there was nothing they could do. I continued to try calling asking for our rugs back (They would ususally not answer the phone). And a few months later my husband went to the company's location (which turned out to be their house and a shed) and spoke to Mike's wife, who said our rugs were in the van to be delivered that day. (They weren't). I wrote to Greg Dawson from the Orlando Sentinel and he tried to get the rugs. At one point, on Feb. 12 Greg sent me an email saying I needed to call Mike right away and he will deliver the rugs. I called Mike and he said he was waiting on the Insurance person to inspect the rugs because of the article in the paper. I never heard another word from him although I have written emails and called many, many times.
Our rugs were worth about $1500 with one being an oriental one and I'm sure we will never get them back but I don't want the same thing to happen to anyone else. Mike apparently does not have a conscience or any sense of morality.
