David Garden
Garden Homes crook, prays on the less fortunate and young women

Ok, I wasn't going to write about my experience but when I saw Dave and Jennifer's rebuttals to some of the complaints I couldn't stop myself.

I can not believe that this person is still in business all these years later. I met him in my early 20's while in nursing school and working full time in the medical field research area 20 years ago.

So, let's say I was not desparate due to money but moreso wanted a place to live instead of paying rent. Dave showed me several homes that weren't really doing much for me as they all needed a ton of repairs. So, Dave made me a "deal" on the repairs and I bought 2 homes. One I would be living in and the other one I would be renting out. He sold me one that already had what appeared to be good tenants. After taking ownership of the already occupied property, the tenants called me NON stop about all the repairs that were never made that Dave promiised them and me he would make. Let's not even go in to the bottle of wine Dave brought by my place one evening to celebrate. I promptly sent him on his merry way. I was dating a great guy in engineering school that I was crazy about but Dave couldn't seem to take no for an answer. He was constantly hitting on me and wouldn't give up (and was with his girlfriend/wife or whatever she was at the time).

I was out one afternoon and Dave had promised to come by and work out the repairs with the tenants and myself and had not shown up so I went by his office. He was on Washington Blvd at that time. He was sitting on his rear in his office instead of coming by the house to meet all of us. My mother was with me and could not believe the way Dave was leering at me. She said it was creepy. I ignored it as I wanted him to live up to his end of the deal. My boyfriend at the time (hubby now for over 18 years) kept begging me to let him go by and pay Dave a visit regarding all this ridiculousness but I continued to handle it as I knew involving him would only make matters worse.

After two TERRIBLE years of dealing with extremely unhappy tenants who Dave continued to make promises regarding repairs, I decided to sell the house. I met with a reputable realtor (who 20 years later is still our realtor and has worked with us on more than 5 home transactions). We love our realtor as he has also been a great friend for the last 15 or so years. He never hit on me or made false promises. Any way, AFTER we listed the home for sale, the tenants that Dave had worked out the contract with, showed MY realtor a RENT TO BUY contract with my signature on it. He forged my signature by copying it from the sales contract. WHAT??? Are you kidding me? This is not the action of an honest man. So, at any rate, I ended up having to get an attorney to help me with the fraudulent contract my tenants had. Dave would not show up to meet with my current realtor, the attorney, the current tenants or me. I understand Dave that you were embarrassed because you were busted, but really? A real man and an honest Christian man like the one I've been married to for years would have owned up to what he had done and helped work out the details. I might also add that my husband who is honest and ethical would have NEVER pulled such an illegal stunt.instead of Dave making those repairs, or showing up at any of the meetings, I was stuck making repairs that Dave promised to make as part of the managing the property. Yes he was being paid to manage the repairs/property (which he did NONE of). This property cost me more in repairs than it was worth but I just wanted out of this ridiculously awful deal.

The other home that I was living in had multiple issues with the paperwork too, that I didn't find out about until our reputable realtor was working on the listing contract and was running reports on the home. The home I was living in had judgements including a lien against Dave for work that was done on the home before I purchased it. Yes, I had to pay that too to get rid of the house I was living in. It was all worth it to buy a much nicer house in a much nicer neighborhood after I moved into my nursing management role. Our current realtor has helped us with a lot of great transactions and still gives me a lot of grief about ever dealing with Dave.

I am soooo glad that I wasn't financially strapped when all this garbage happened to me or I would probably still be stuck in those two TERRIBLE homes that I was dumb enough (young and guillable enough) to purchase. I thought I was doing a good thing.

Unfortunately, my father had died a few years before I met Dave so I didn't have my Dad to warn me as I'm sure he would have NEVER allowed me to do something so stupid. My Mom didn't live in town. She lived in California and visited often but wasn't in town when I signed the deal with Dave (or the devil).

My Mom couldn't believe I did this. My husband still brings this up occassionally over how trusting I am and how I really should have learned my lesson compliments of Dave Garden and Garden or Star Homes.
